U.S. allies already up in arms

One of Obama's campaign promises was that he was going to ensure that countries around the world, U.S. allies in particular, would look upon America favorably once again.

Now, during the Bush administration many U.S. relationships with foreign nations did very well; when Canadian Prime Minister Harper was elected, Canada's relationship with America strengthened, Italy has always had a very strong relationship with the Bush administration, as did Great Britain, Israel and even Pakistan.

Despite the Obama cutouts that were being burned in the Middle East during the Israeli-Hamas conflict, the media in the U.S. did not report it in great detail, if at all. This is a pattern we are seeing in the mainstream media, and a topic for a future post. This past week has perhaps been the most interesting for Obama as he has single handedly put all of the U.S. allies on the brink of a trade war with his administration. Obama's attempt to turn his protectionist ideas into policy has sent Europe and Canada into a frenzy.

It has been less than 2 weeks and Obama is set to severely dampen the strong ties the U.S. has had with these nations over the last 4-8 years. The media would have you believe differently, or not informed at all.
